CATRINAS
I first met María José Miranda (MJ) during her participation at the Harbourfront Day of the Dead (Día de los Muertos) Festival many years ago. She complimented me on my attempt at the traditional Catrinas makeup - a style inspired by the symbolic La Calavera Catrina (1913) - which incorporates ornate skull-like designs in celebration of life. It wasn’t long after our initial run-in that we came together to collaborate on our first photoshoot, highlighting her detailed and intricate makeup and styling. Since then, we’ve collaborated on shoots multiple times each year and have plans to exhibit our shared vision to the world.
